HERO DOGS VOLUNTEER TRAINING On Sunday July 15th, we are holding two volunteer trainings. Introduction to Hero Dogs is offered at 12:30PM for all interested volunteers, applicants and donors. You will learn about our mission to raise, train and provide Service Dogs for veterans and first responders, get the overview of our program, volunteer positions, a dog demo and kennel tour. Puppy Program Orientation at 2:30PM for any interested puppy raiser or sitter volunteer. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL Ebenezer United Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School for children in preschool through middle school from July 22 to July 26, 2018 at the church, 4901 Woodbine Road, Winfield. MASTER WATERSHED STEWARD CERTIFICATION PROGRAM The Howard County, HoCoWSA is holding a series of informational sessions to highlight its Master Watershed Steward Certification program. The academy is looking for innovative problem-solvers who are interested in serving their community by preserving and improving water quality at the local level. "The Watershed Academy equips people with an understanding of what affects the quality of both water and land, which impacts individuals, families, and every one of us in this community," said Georgia Eacker, Howard County's Master Gardner Coordinator and member of the HoCoWSA advisory committee. HoCoWSA's next training class will commence on September 4, 2018. Attendance at one of the information sessions is recommended to receive application package for enrollment in the upcoming course. VOLUNTEERS WANTED Join staff and volunteers at Patapsco Valley State Park for a fun, informative morning removing invasive plants! A ranger will identify the most common (and aggressive) plants, and why these species are such a threat to the ecosystem. Work days are 9 a.m.-noon. Volunteers are encouraged to stay afterward to enjoy the park they are helping to protect! Large event dates are listed below, with the primary opponent: Garlic mustard: July 21, Aug. 25, Sept. 8.
