MOM'S DAY BIRD WALK May 12, 7:30am. Sandy Spring Friends Meeting invites one and all to come join us as we walk down to "The" Sandy Spring and return. We will gather on the porch of the historic brick Sandy Spring Friends Meeting House, 17715 Meeting House Rd, Sandy Spring MD, at 7:15am, and step off at 7:30am . Carroll County Notes

NATIONAL TRAIN DAY 2019 OPEN HOUSE Western Maryland Railway Historical Society Museum Complex, The Train Station at 41 North Main Street, Union Bridge, MD. Saturday, May 11, 10:00 to 3:00. Open to all ages. Free Admission. Come out to this special Saturday open house to celebrate the National Train Day and celebrate the joy of trains and train travel! Come see the history of the Western Maryland Railway both in Carroll County and the state of Maryland. The Museum collection is housed in a 117 year old Railroad Station and office building. See trains from full size ones to small model trains of all sizes scales. Our own Carroll County based Maryland Midland Railroad will have a locomotive on display. There will be displays of operating equipment (weather permitting) from the "Chesapeake & Allegheny Steam Preservation Society". There will be a Child ID Program table setup. The ID Kit allows parents to collect specific information by easily recording the physical characteristics and finger parents of their children on identification cards that they keep at home. If ever needed this ID Kit will give authorities vital information to help locate a missing child. There will be a Hot Dog stand.

INVASIVE SPECIES TASK FORCE May 12, 9am-noon at McKeldin Parking Lot A behind the Ranger Station. Join park staff and other motivated volunteers for a fun, informative morning removing invasive plants! Listen to a short talk from a ranger on how to identify local invasive plants and why these species are such a threat to our ecosystem. We'll take a short hike to the work area to remove the plants discussed. Wear long pants and sleeves, sturdy boots and work gloves and bring plenty of water!
