A FALL APPLE FESTIVAL AND CAR SHOW is coming Saturday, September 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Benjamin's Lutheran Church in the Meadowcreek neighborhood of Westminster. Event activities such as scarecrow building, face-painting, and hay rides are free to the public. Enjoy the harvest items of the season! Apples, pumpkins, and flowers will be sold, along with traditional favorites like hot dogs, barbeque, and cider. Rounding out the family fun will be a Car Show featuring a variety of models and generations for close-up viewing. Prizes will be given for Best of Show and individual classing. Gift bags are provided to the first 25 cars. St. Benjamin's Lutheran Church is a growing congregation recently engaged in a self-study to be more present in discipleship to its neighbors. A Fellowship Hall, open to the neighborhood for group meetings, picnics and events, sits on a three-acre grass lawn with a shaded pavilion, a tree-lined drive, meditation gardens, both toddler and big kid playgrounds, and plenty of parking. EBENEZER UMC METHODIST CHURCH will hold the "Rock of Help" Food Pantry for anyone in the community in need of food from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month at the church's new food pantry building, 4901 Woodbine Road, near Winfield. "THE STATE OF THE BAY & BAYWISE GARDENING Savage Library Thursday, September 12, 2019 7PM. Please join us at the Savage Library on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. when Master Gardener Paul Beares presents "The State of the Bay and Baywise Gardening". This presentation provides an overview of the condition of the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed based upon scientific research conducted each year by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The discussion then moves to what individual gardeners can do in their home gardens to respond to the challenges identified in the State of the Bay Report. The audience will be introduced to the Master Gardener Baywise Program including specific actions gardeners/homeowners can take to make their gardens more eco-friendly. OPEN HOUSE October 12, 1-4pm. Every year in October the Ellicott City Volunteers hosts an open house at Station 2 on Montgomery Road. The public is invited to come in and see some of the behind the scenes of the fire department. There are many activates for the whole family such as the Jr Fire Fighter Challenge, the 911 stimulator, Mr. Yuk, face painting and a place for kids to try on fire gear! There is also a vehicle extrication demonstration. During the event, the volunteers are on hand to answer any questions you or your family might have. Apparatus is also available for families to get in and see what it is like to ride in a fire engine or an ambulance. We hope you will join us at open house. This is a free event.

4-H STEM PATHWAY SERIES The Howard County Extension 4-H Outreach Program will be presenting a 4-H STEM Pathways Series for children ages 10 - 16 at the Savage Library Branch in September, October and November. THE MARYLAND ACCORDION CLUB meets 2-5pm, on the first Saturday of each month, September through June, in Catonsville United Methodist Church, 6 Melvin Ave., Catonsville, MD.
